Steps
leading away from the main house. There were several statues of the Buddha
in honor of Bali tradition. Each morning this statue would have a different
flower in its hand. Our room was one of several off an open hallway to the
dining room and great room.
The
Bali House (main structure) is in background. It is set on the highest hill
and has the best views. It was built after the architecture of Bali and has
open archways to the patio. One morning we saw a gecko near the TV in the
Great Room. Later that day we met a large turtle in the hall to our bedroom.
The hammock shot above is from the end of the Great Room.
Shots
of our bed and room from the balcony. Each evening the mosquito nets would
be let down and each morning stored
in this decorative way while we were out.
Bathroom
at Bali Lo one of three separate private bedrooms on the island. The
bathroom is underground and requires one to shower with the occasional
gecko. It's a substitution photo for our own bathroom which we didn't
photograph. We captured this one on a tour (thanks Louise and John!)
The
Cliff House is in the background on this shot from the Bali High balcony. It
was captured on another tour (thanks to Lucy and Tony). Both of these
structures have the open bathrooms. There isn't any chance you will be spied
except by those geckos or perhaps a passing boat with binoculars.
One
view of the Great Room. There were several large couches and spots to
lounge. The dining room was just to the right past the bar. A short
staircase brings you to the second floor where there was a video game room, eclectic library, group of built in couches, and a
bridge that you can just see at the top of the photo that brought you to the
roof. More cushions were found there with the most amazing views.
Bar
at the lower pool. You can walk up from the beach or swim to it from the
other side. There were large rocks to sit on inside the pool. We drank the
frothiest most delicious banana daiquiris here.
Dinner
in the Great Room. This table sat 16 couples at one of our meals. We were
offered two appetizer and dinner choices when we sat
down. As we chose, the unnecessary silverware would be removed. The
menus ranged from quail to sea bass and were
always followed with excellent desserts. Wine was constantly flowing and
your drink was never less then one third full.
Dinnertime
was always interesting because you never knew what to expect. One night it
was in the Great Room,
the next on a
formal table at the beach near a bonfire, followed by a casual Dim Sum meal the
next night. The most unexpected was our last evening of a 'White Night 7 Course Gala' we all wore
white and were greeted with ultraviolet lights and white helium balloons.
Unfortunately, pictures can't do it justice. A close second was our sushi
lunch in the beach
pool. The sushi arrived by boat decorated with fuchsia scarves, palm leaves
and orchids. We each grabbed a
plate and ate by the wall in the shallow end.
